Today was our 4th day in Key Largo and we finally finished a house!! With all the hard work our group put in touching up the house we were working on, the home owner was finally able to see it. So, this morning we had a dedication to the house as a final finish to the project. We learned a lot about how long the renovation took, as well as before and after pictures of the house. The house was totally devastated in the storm and 15 months later the house is fully renovated and able to live in!! We got to meet the homeowner at this dedication, and learned a lot about her recovery process. As the project leader said, she owned her recovery!! It was amazing to see how thankful she was of us and the whole group was so happy we could help out. As a reward, we did not have to work today and went down to Key West to have some fun on the beach, and the town! We finally ended the day with taking a picture by the most south point of the United States. Only 90 miles to Cuba!

Great Day in the Keys!
This morning, after a grueling process of travel, we were lucky to get a little sleep-in, we went to our job site ready to work. When we got there, we were very overwhelmed. Necessary jobs seemed a little out of reach for a group of untrained high school students. But, with a little help, and a lot of teamwork, the group painted all of the houses walls, assembled 2 sinks, and were able attach 3 doors to their proper hinges. We, after a long day of work, then headed to the beach where we explored the nature of Key Largo. After our wonderful time at the beach, we came back to our temporary home and had a wonderful dish of ravioli made by the leader of the organization were working with, Nancy. We would like to personally thank anyone connected to New Hampton or our trip for our outstanding day!
