From Lucy, Sydney & Omisa
This morning our group traveled to the Greater Chicago Depository to volunteer. We started with a slideshow, where we learned about the importance of accessible food. During our 3-hour volunteer shift, we packaged several hundred bags of oranges to be shipped elsewhere in the area for families in need. It was a very fun time, the organizers played music and there were several jobs to choose from. Our time at the food depository was very fulfilling!
Total, the group re-packaged: 8,260 lbs of oranges! This accounts for 6,883 meals (by weight) and that breaks down to 186 meals processed per person!
This evening our group went to the comedy club called The Second City for dinner and a show. This comedy club is known for its ties to SNL and other comedians/actors. Some examples include Steve Carrel, Halle Berry, Amy Poehler, and Tina Fey. Our group went to see the improv show titled "The Best Decision You've Ever Made" which was an interactive 'Choose Your Own Adventure' style show. Overall, it was very funny, and everyone had a great time!
