We workshopped and sent our work to Literati!

On Friday, students got together in a coffee shop in Plymouth to finalize a chosen piece to send to Literati for potential publication. They had a lovely time, with their lovely smiles, on a lovely day!

We Made Funny Songs!

On Thursday, students got together in Ms. Lu's apartment for dumplings and a chance to write a funny song. Using the Lonely Island, Weird-Al Yankovic, and Nigahiga as inspiration, the students paired up and wrote some lyrics before coming together as a class to expand on an entire group rap.

Students are Somewhat Funny Now

Yesterday on the suspiciously quiet campus of New Hampton School, 7 students became somewhat funnier. The theme of the day was stand up comedy in Pilalas 102, as students wrote anecdotes and attempted to perform them with somewhat success. They took a Five Guys break in-between, what bliss! Much delight! So hunger! Very excite!

2 NHS Teachers Attempt To Make Students Funny

Adapted from: Kelin Jeffreys '22

New Hampton teachers Mrs. Pechenick and Ms. Lu are running a Humor Writing class in NHS’s annual Project Week, in the hopes of making 7 helpless students become funny.  They will be working on all of the the different types of humor, such as stupid, ironic, and dad humor. They hope to soon incorporate these types of funny into their selves, in order to become more complete people.
Ms. Lu released a statement on Monday that states “It will take hard work and determination, but at the end of the day, there is a 50/50 chance these guys could end up funny”.  The class will also watch hilarious movies, as that will be the only time someone will laugh.  They will examine the movies, and talk about how they were funny so the students can further understand. In addition to movies, they will make videos, watch TV episodes, and read articles to hopefully improve their on-the-spot roasting ability.  All in all, there is hope in these students, and no doubt this could be a great class.

In addition to going to humor boot camp, students also worked a variety of jobs.

                    They cleaned.

      They worked in retail.

They did this...?

All in all, the students had a wonderful time viewing Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and Shark Tale in McEvoy Theater.
