Healthy Inside & Out - Day 4

Yesterday, we started the day with hands on practice on how to work with natural ingredients that one can readily get to create ChapStick and sugar body scrubs. We really enjoyed this time because we got to work on products we wanted to create as well as appreciate the literal strength and knowledge that someone needs to make a whole batch of this. Of course, this was a much simpler demonstration of the process to create natural beauty products but seeing how simple it can be to make them made me feel wonder about the products we use daily. Throughout the day we kept thinking back to all the lessons we were learning throughout this week and. For example, how the whole supply chain from a farm and sourcing products to creating them for different purposes such as the community we saw in Plymouth to distributing them to marginalized groups shows a new perspective we didn't see before. Also, our batches were really good. :)

Next, we went to Plymouth Soapworks and met the lady who started the whole business. She explained her aims to make healthier and sustainable ingredients was founded for people in marginalized communities which was really touching. She explained many questions and gave us entrepreneurial advice for anyone hoping to pursue business in the future. Then, she explained some of the challenges she faced and faces as well as her future plans for expanding her locations and setting up other Soapworks around the state or even the country. I really liked how she acknowledged that she can't change the entire world, but she can be a stepping stone to help others be conscious of their actions to help be more sustainable. Overall, she was an amazing speaker and will probably be in Womens Mag or Forbes one day. Additionally, we bought some products from her store, and they are amazing, especially the lotion.

After that, some of us went to eat at Peek a Bowl which was beyond amazing. The food was exquisite, and the service was exceptional. 10/10 definitely recommend to everyone. After we finished our food, we got back to school and took a break then joined for yoga. It was very relaxing and much needed for such a great day.
