Tinker Shop Day 4

On Thursday, Tinker shop put their newly acquired skills to use working on their own projects. Students are designing a range of 3-d prints, garments, coding expeditions, and everything in between. Everyone go to be creative and move outside of their comfort zone!

Tinker Shop Day 2

Today we keep working on our arcade game. After that we brought them to dining hall during lunch. We collected a lot of valuable advice and suggestions. We realized that for our plinko game, we need to build edges around the game to prevent the ball falling out. For game Cross Cup, we need to work on the stability of x-bow, because it sometime works and sometime not. After exhibited our game, we started investigating on 3D design. We use the software tinker card to design our product. After that we will use the 3d printer to print our product out. (Anthiny W.)

Tinker Shop Day 1 - Cardboard Arcade

Today significant efforts are put in to produce cardboard arcade games. Classical good old day memories including plinko (Hayden, William, Anthiny), pinball (Jocelyne, Fluke, Ben), table hockey (Prompt, Liam, Jerry, Sean), mini pool (Zach, Bri, Nont), crosscup TM (Max, Aiden, QC). Great shout out to out DJ Ben (20 stars out of 5 stars, woohoo) Fundamentals of 3D printing are introduced, we printed pool balls, prototypes, plinko, and hockey pucks. Remember to follow Hayden for the photos :) All the above will be displayed tomorrow in the small side of the cafe during lunch. Come and support! (by Max)

Animation at WDFM - Day 3

 Our morning started out with a trip to Muir Woods, followed by walking the Golden Gate Bridge and visiting the Marin Headlands. In the afternoon, we headed back the Walt Disney Family Museum, and worked with Travis Lacina, Director of Education at the Museum. He showed our group around the museum exhibits and then oriented students to use the Toon Boom Harmony software and WACOM drawing tablets to do hand drawn digital animation.

 DAY 3: TASTE TEST

    We took a trip down to Brentwood New Hampshire, where we stopped at Goody Coles. It was an older establishment and the inside brought me back to an older western vibe. Even though the menu was small they had some really good food. They were famous for their Saint Louis Ribs.

This was a small house with a lot to offer, their employees were eager to meet us. They were very welcoming right when they opened. Finally, we drove back up to the school where we would get our ingredients ready for our own dry rub. Everyone will be creating their own dry rub. Then we ended the day with a reflection on Goody Coles!

Animation at WDFM - Day 2

 The group hit the ground running this morning with an introduction to the Walt Disney Family Museum and a crash course in hand drawn animation. In the afternoon, we headed down to the North Beach area for some lunch followed by a tour of the Cartoon Art Museum for a fascinating look at their History of Animation show. The night ended with a trip to the Chase Center to see the Warriors take on the Clippers!

Building Your Lifestyle Brand - Day 1

The groups worked on their customer base, for who we would generally sell our brands to. During the day, we focused on creating our brands as a whole. This included creating a name, logo, and slogan. Here are the initial logo designs.

The last assignment we had was to create a social media account to promote our brands. Some of us made an Instagram while others made a TikTok account. We are all excited for our trip to Boston, the DJ lessons, and getting our logos on a sweatshirt.

Animation at WDFM - Day 1

After a long travel day, the Animation at Walt Disney Family Museum crew arrived in San Francisco, enjoyed a walk around the Presidio and Marina district, settled into our accommodations, and set out for a bite to eat! Feeling sated and excited, the gang is ready to start animating in the morning!

Santa Fe: Photos and Feathers, Day 1

The first day of project week began at 2 am Monday March 7, 2022. We arrived at the coach bus full of energy, even though we hadn’t slept in 7 hours, and we wouldn’t sleep for another 10. The ride to Logan was a blur, and in a blink we were checking in our bags. By this point the energy stated to fade and the airport stress kicked in. We were rushing to get to our flight, due to the airline's computers being down, even though we had had plenty of time to spare. 

The first plane ride were made up of power-naps only being awoken when turbulence hit, and our half conscious selves thought our plane was going down. The second ride however was more eventful. We were the last to board, so we could not sit together. While Elena made friends with the man next to her, Abby dealt with a curious woman who seemed to think she was a waitress. When we finally landed our day had finally, truly begun.

 

We arrived—ravenous and eager, discussions of lunch and schedules filled the air. We got our bags, and hopped into the shuttle bus to take us to the rental place. To our greatest delight we were given the drippiest, white GMC Yukon the world has ever seen. Cramming in the car with all of our gear, we headed off to our first destination.

 

Our first destination was the Rio Grande Nature Park. Here we observed and photographed the water fowl that is native to the area. The art and trail was beautiful, but it was a bit colder than expected. After spending time learning about how to photograph birds, and what correct settings to use in certain lighting, we were pretty tuckered out, but we still had more to explore.  We also had our first introduction to our binoculars and the spotting scope.

 

 

 

 

We headed over to the Sandia Peak Tramway, which was about a fifteen minute drive. On our way we discussed ever negative outcome of climbing 10,000 ft in a small metal box. We were extremely paranoid, but it was worth it. The view from the top of the peak was beautiful. You could see for miles, and we arrived just in time for sunset. Though it was cold we had lots of fun exploring the top and photographing the landscape. After a while we got a bit too cold and decided to head to the hotel. Once we arrived showers were taken, photos were edited, and we finally fell asleep.

 The gang started off project week bright and early with a quick meeting before hiking up Ladd Hill. From the top there were some great views of Winnisquam, Winnipesaukee, and the Belknap Range. After the hike the gang headed into Laconia form some coffee and smoothies at the Wayfarer and Goodnatured stores. Everyone shared fries, onion rings and burgers at the Surfside burger restaurant in Meredith. After, we met back up in Meservy to discuss the day, as well as plan for tomorrow, including making sure everyone remembers necessary items for our journey to Keene and the Monadnock Region tomorrow.
