Today in Santa Fe we went to two cool places. In the morning we went to an old coal mining town, Madrid. There we got to observe the desert landscape and go into some stores. We went to various crystal, jewelry, and general art shops. There were gorgeous indigenous handmade silver and turquoise jewelry. Additionally, we saw many works of art: photography, pottery, paintings, etc., which reflected the culture and traditions of the town and surrounding areas.
In the afternoon we went to this amazing, immersive art exhibit called
Meow Wolf. The entire exhibit was an elaborate and colorful maze
depicting a world in which aliens have invaded. The immersive experience
incorporated artistic expression and mystery, initially asking the
exhibit goers to solve the mystery of what happened to a family. In
addition to the story line presented and the rooms that followed that
story line, there were many rooms that pushed the known concepts of
reality.
