Athletics Board: Day 5

On the final day of Project week, we decided to reward the group of Colin, Evan, Julia, Eva, Molly, Matthew, Khalil, and Reese for being so flexible as a result of some technical difficulties with the Laser Engraving Machine and all the hard work they put in. The reward was a trip to an Escape Room in Gilford, NH as well as treating them to lunch at Papa Gino's.

Athletics Board: Day 4

Students started out the day collecting some more videos and pictures to improve and use as transition pieces as well as highlight facilities such as the baseball field or upper gym that were not part of their video presentation from yesterday.

After collecting videos and pictures in the morning students spent the afternoon finding where to insert their new videos and working on the transitions when moving from one facility to another in the video. The students came up with two videos as you can see below.

Athletics Board: Day 3

The Athletics Board group had to use some creativity and transition the direction of the project due to a technical difficulty with the Laser Engraving Machine. As a result, the student decided to make videos about the athletic facilities on campus, show the facilities off, give their thoughts about them, and discuss how the facilities have added to their New Hampton School experience.

The students were split into groups and the morning was spent coming up with a plan for how they were going to create their video as well as going out and getting footage to edit in the afternoon.

Below is a picture of Molly, Julia, and Ava discussing their plan for their video and what they wanted to accomplish.

Matthew, Kahil, and Reese decided to look at the new weight room and interview Strength and Conditioning Coach, Tony Mure.

Evan and Colin are planning to showcase the hockey rink and in particular the Men's Hockey Lockerroom.

Below is a video of Julia, Ava, and Molly shooting the opening scene to their video.

After spending the morning collecting video clips of the athletic facilities on campus that the students wanted to showcase, this afternoon students spent editing their videos. The students did a good job working with one another and teaching one another how to use software like iMovie to make their videos look professional.

After editing their film, the students presented what they put together.

Overall, the students did a great job on their film. After watching the film, Mr. Arsenault and Mr. Przepiorka provided some feedback on ways the film could be improved and tomorrow students will take time to shoot some more parts to the film and edit it to produce a final product.

Athletics Board: Day 2

As a result of some technical difficulties with the Laser Engraving Machine, students started off the day doing some more research. Students researched where some recent graduates have gone off to play their collegiate sports and contacted that schools Sports Information Director with requests for pictures of the student-athletes to update the Alumni Showcases (shown below)

Students also looked in the New Hampton Archives to find the award winners that are missing from the Awards Boards. (As shown in the picture below, two award winners are missing from the Scott Mcleod Football Award in the early 1980s)

After a hard morning of doing research, the students were rewarded with a BBQ and some time to relax and play games in the sun.

Athletics Boad: Day 1

Students started off the day by taking a tour of the Athletic Boards that are on campus in the Lower Gym as well as the other showcases around campus that display the student-athletes and their accomplishments.

After getting an idea of what the Athletic Boards currently look like, students went back to the classroom to research ideas on how to improve the current Athletic Boards.

Students came up with some rough sketches of how a new improved Athletic Board could look like.

Students also began working on an old Atheltic Board, starting with removing the old sticker to have a clean slate put their ideas on in the then next couple of days.

In the afternoon students helped put together the Laser Engraver Machine that will be used in the process of improving the Athletic Boards.
