Day 3!
Energy is high for our third day. This morning we decided to get in touch with our Artistic side! The students took part in a little "Sip and Paint". We learned about the Batik painting style and then tried our hand at it. We used a reference paining to give everyone something to strive for. We made up some fun drinks with Mango, Pineapple, Seltzer, and Lime and enjoyed listening to some traditional Ugandan music. The paintings came out great and we had a lot of fun. In the afternoon, we worked on keeping our books straight for our fundraiser. We are up to $2800.00! Unreal. We are so happy to be able to give a gift that will really help the children at the Clover School. After that, we worked to fine tune our planning for tomorrow's Zoom with the children. We practiced the Cha Cha, the Chicken Dance, and other games to make sure we were prepared to give the students a fun experience with us. Our pen pal letters and bracelets are almost finished and ready to send. Big day tomorrow with the Zoom in the morning, an African drum workshop, and then a conversation with Colby professor, Laura Seay, who will lead us in a discussion on the "White Savior Complex" and the Ugandan political landscape.
