“Our first day in Marrakech began with a traditional Moroccan breakfast on the rooftop of our hotel. From there we ventured on a tour of a palace, and visited the tallest building in Marrakech. Our afternoon was spent practicing Darija Arabic, and preparing ourselves for our upcoming homestays. Before our dinner with a local family, we explored the local markets and took part in a “Médina scavenger hunt.” To end our night, we spent time reflecting on our experiences, and engaging in a thoughtful conversation regarding the differences between American and Moroccan culture.”
