Build Sheds DAY 5

Today we worked on roofing for the sheds. We learned about different kinds of shingles and different ways of laying them. Justin also taught us that when laying shingles, "think like a raindrop," which means you should plan the nail placement and arrangement of the shingles in a way that water will not get through to the wood. Also, we learned how the peak of the roof is protected by bending shingles over it to keep the rain out. While most of the group was working on roofing, some students were painting 3 coats of paint on the trim for the shed. Overall, this project has taught us all very valuable life skills.  We were not able to complete the entire shed as it still needs some siding and doors.  We are very thankful for the help and guidance we got from Justin, Tim, Dana, and Jim.
