Day 2: This morning, we woke up and began preparing for our day of swimming and hiking in mayan caves. We left Clarissa falls at 8 am. Upon arrival, we hiked for about a half hour until we reached the entrance of the caves. Once inside, we participated in a mixture of swimming, hiking and rock climbing in order to explore the hidden chambers and delve into their history. We climbed deeper and higher until we reached large caverns about a half mile inside the cave, where ancient religious artifacts and sacrificial remains were located.
Our tour guides used witty humor to help us fully comprehend and relate to the history behind the stories of the caves. After we returned from our venture, we retired to our rooms before being called to dinner. At 6:00, we ate pasta and garlic cheesy bread with some ice cream for dessert.
