Cory, with paint |
This resulted in Cory becoming a source of laughter and screams from the school children as people struggled and failed to completely remove the thick black paint. After painting we went and had lacrosse practice with the kids. Their skills and tactical lacrosse thinking were very impressive. The competition was high throughout both practices we attended and participated in. It was very exciting for us when the New Hampton girls played a high competition game against the Nicaraguan girls that came out to practice.

Work at the school in Nicaragua |
Today was a sad day since it was our last day playing with the Nicaraguan kids and helping out the school. However, we enjoyed every single bit of the unforgettable experience and have gained a new appreciation for the world that we live in and how privileged we are. It became especially clear how privileged we are when we stepped out of the van and saw one community in particular in Nicaragua. The community we visited was right outside of a massive dump in which tons and tons of trash were pilled. Here people lived amongst much of the garbage and gained their income from sorting through the dump. It was very sad for us to see this and eye-opening because we felt an overwhelming sensation of helpless as the community’s children gathered around us.
It was truly an experience none of us will forget. After a long day of fun, painting and playing lacrosse we headed over to a very fun dinner on a boardwalk in Nicaragua. There we enjoyed live music, unbelievable food and quality time with each other. As we explored the small town we were able to support local businesses by shopping and enjoying their souvenirs. We are excited for another fun packed day tomorrow. Stay tuned! Sincerely your favorite Nicaraguan Huskies, Kylee, Jesslyn and Kinley.
