We woke up early knowing that we had a very busy day ahead.
First, we had a tour of the Kapaleeswarar Temple with our amazing tourguide, Lakshmi. She told us many stories about just a fraction of the 30 million the Hindu gods and their many incantations as well as some of the spiritual practices that take place at the temple.
Here is some music we got to hear playing in the temple.
Then, Lakshmi brought us to a brahman priest's home for more stories and traditions.
We then hopped on auto rickshaws for an exciting ride to St. Thome's Basilica.

After that, we were starving and our tour ended with coffee and dosa. We are loving the India food and culture!

From lunch we went back to American International School of Chennai for a cultural awareness session and kolam design. Kolam is a decorative symbol that people put outside their entryways for good luck here in Chennai. We learned how to draw them and different reasons they are done.

After rest and reflection at the hotel, we went to Elliot's beach to take photos. The people are so beautiful and most everyone is eager to have their picture taken.
If our day hadn't been exciting enough, we got amazingly lucky and saw baby turtles released as the sun set at Elliot's beach.
To finish off the day, we joined Dan, Amy, Gus and Gordon for a delicious dinner at a favorite local restaurant called Pumpkin Tales. Our tour guide David was even nice enough to treat us to ice-cream on the way home. What a great day!

St. Thome Basilica is one of only 3 churches in the world to have bones of an apostile.
