Ice Fishing Day 2

Ice Fishing 2019
Day 2
Mirror Lake, Thornton,NH
Around 20F

Getting set up and ready

First Fish perch

A little colder today, heavier coats for some

A bald eagle was circling and even grabbed a snack from the middle of the lake. Someone had left a good sized perch maybe the day before or earlier that morning laying on the ice.  Free lunch for the eagle.

Learning

Fishing in a hole

Using the sonar which has a series of flashing bars on it that we are learning to read.  It can tell you depth, what the bottom is like, where your lure is and if there is anything sniffing the bait.

The three main reasons people ice fish.
1. Being outdoors-check
2. Being with friends-check
3. Catching fish to eat-not so much today

still hoping but no luck all day

Only one of these guys pulled anything up all day.  It was rough out there.

Resting after all that not catching might help

Even the traps didn't go off

When the fish aren't biting we build snow forts!!

Exhausted by all that sitting around looking in a hole.  Dreaming about tomorrow and all the fish they will catch.
