Finishing Out Our Healthy Living: Days 5 and 6

Friday:
Today we went to Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s in Bedford, NH. There, we looked at food labels to see if location and sources were clearly marked on the produce which they were. We also checked to see how local the foods are. A lot of foods are from around the area but some are from all over the place. We also looked at the standards of Whole Foods and the certifications they have for animal welfare. We found that Whole Foods does a better job with labeling but Trader Joe’s sells more of their own brand. We also compared hygiene products and found majority of the products sold have better ingredients than products you might find else where. The ingredients they use are also included in their certifications. Then, later in the day we made simple body scrubs with natural ingredients such as oats, honey, epsom salts, apple cider vinegar and coconut oil. We also squeezed in a conversation about COVID-19 since it is very relevant in everyones health currently - physically, mentally and emotionally.

Saturday:
Today we began our day by making a simple lip scrub with brown sugar, coconut oil, and honey! It tasted delicious. We then discussed what we learned over the past week and took notes on our ideas for a future symposium presentation. To finish our morning together, Mrs. Aronson led us in a 45 minute yoga class, sealing the end of our wonderful week together.
