NH Politics, Day 2

In preparation of our trip to the New Hampshire state capital building on Wednesday, we began our day learning about four bills that are going to be discussed by the legislature.

We then discussed the structure of state and federal governments. We discovered that NH has one of the largest legislative bodies in the country!

Our group listened to a second episode from the podcast "stranglehold" called "Dragon Egg" which discussed the importance of the 1976 primary in which Jimmy Carter an "unknown candidate" won the election.

After lunch we went to the New Hampton town meeting house which was built in 1798. We also saw the original site of New Hampton Academy and Technological Institute which was the origin of New Hampton School.

We were given a brief tour of the town hall where we watched Mr. Henry vote for the first time as a New Hampton resident!

And experience the historical bathrooms there (It's a two-seater!)
We used the democratic process to vote on going to Starbucks as a group were we met the Derryfield math team.

Looking forward to heading to the State House tomorrow!
