Sailing Days 3 and 4

Students on the sailing trip have had two more extraordinary days! On Wednesday, we sailed from Buck Island to Honeymoon Beach on St. John, where the students enjoyed some beach time and another chance to snorkel. There were also a number of visits from the local wildlife, everything from sea turtles to bats to tarpin (fish). Today we sailed from Honeymoon Beach to Christmas Cove and enjoyed a delicious dinner from Pizza Pie, the pizza boat! The students are steadily growing their technical skills, learning how to tack and jibe, how to drive the boats, how to do an engine check before beginning the day's sailing, and also how to cook meals and clean up after themselves. The growth in the group, both in terms of technical skill and team feeling, has been wonderful to watch!
