Alternative Photography Day 2: Meredith: Patterns : Shadows: Negatives: Cyanotypes

Today we visited mill falls in meredith, NH. we walked around the town, taking pictures wherever we found of rhythm and patterns, shadows, and reflections. We had a whole lot of fun exploring the shops in that area, photographing everything from rows of candy in the candy shop to the thin ice atop the water by the town docks.

Around 1130, we returned back to campus for lunch, and reconvened again at 1230. We spent the afternoon creating negatives through photoshop with the photos that we took earlier in the day. Despite some faulty printer troubles, we were able to complete the process of making a cyanotype with one of our photographs before time was up for the day.

Learning the process of creating cyanotypes was especially interesting. It was very cool to see how the sun changes the colors of the cyanotype liquid on the paper, and finishing up by cleaning the papers and of course, completing the chemical process with hydrogen peroxide; which turned the cyanotypes that beautiful dark blue before our eyes. hopefully tomorrow morning we will have better luck with the printer and so with completing the remainder of our cyanotypes!
