We had a fun day kicking off the week with a mock admission case study where students got to read three college applications and pretend they were college admission officers for the day, voting to admit, waitlist and deny one student. Everyone agreed it was helpful to see all of the various things that admission officers think about when making decisions (hint, it's not just GPA and test scores!). We spent the second half of the day discussing some of the colleges currently in the March Madness pool, how to research a school to see if it's a good fit, and watching virtual college tours. A highlight was the college trivia quiz that came with college swag! A few of the reflections from the day:
- Today I had really enjoyed learning what the actual process of what going through the college admission process was like along with getting to know what the strengths and weakness of each college is like. I really enjoyed learning that every college is different in what type of student they are looking for as well. Before I had never realized the process that everyone goes through. - Jack Hamill
- Today I enjoyed all the different activities we did today. My favorite was watching all the videos of the different schools and getting to learn more about each of the campuses and what they have to offer. - Jack Fauster
-Today I learned about the work that goes into college admissions and how difficult it can be to pick between applicants. I had fun playing college trivia and winning my UVM hat.- Joe Joe DuBrul
