Yoga, Meditation, and the Creative Process: Day 2

We started out our second day practicing the "Morning Pages" which is a tool introduced in "The Artist's Way" by Julia Cameron. The basic rule of this tool is to write three pages of longhand stream of consciousness writing, without stopping right when you get up each day. She heralds this as a major tool for anyone serious about their creative pursuits. Cameron says the pages can't really be explained except by experiencing them.

Then, we had a guest instructor, Shavani, Zoom in to guide us in Shatki yoga. She incorporated mudras and some discussion of the body's energy centers. It was an amazing session!

Just before lunch, Ms. Pereira led us in sensory experience making aromatherapy slime.

In the afternoon, we had our second virtual guest instructor, dancer Mitsu Salmon. She gave us a short history of Butoh dance and and then led us in a creative movement workshop, where she guided us through different ways of improvised movement, prompted by visual imagery.
