Santa Fe: Photos and Feathers, Day 2

Today’s day in Santa Fe consisted of many different things! The first endeavor the group embarked on was breakfast at the hotel! Next, we met the professional photographer David Hoptman and completed a two hour workshop in the Plaza with him. The focus of our photographs was composition, form and shape. Slowly, we were each able to learn his technique and perfect our photos.

For lunch we ate at the Plaza Café, this was an interesting experience compared to Northeast diners. The diner consisted of decor like rugs and New Mexican landscapes. Also, the yummy special Santa Fe dessert sopiapilla was given to us at the end of our meal.

Our next endeavor was driving north from Santa Fe on the High Road to Taos and making photos with Mr Hoptman of a dramatic rock formation. Once again we focused on the techniques we had learned earlier that day. After we finished making pictures of the structure we travelled to a town called  Chimayo. This town is home to one of the most visited churches in the country, El Santuario de Chimayo, famous for its healing. We made a multitude of pictures from outside the church and met a cool guy who was selling his own special NM chile powders. We were able to get a free tasting  as Mr Hoptman knew him well. To end off the night we pulled over and watched the magnificent sunset. Such a wonderful day! Cannot wait to see what tomorrow brings to us!!!
