CERAMICS 2019 Expressive Sculpture

Today's adventure for ceramics was learning about the basics of it all. We began by making our very own personalized sketch books, we were able to personalize it by size, colors and all different designs. We went through the process of cutting, gluing and sewing our papers together for a great final product.

We took a well deserved coffee break this afternoon between creating our sketchbooks and meeting sculptor Anita Holt!

After we made our sketch books we went to see a sculptor by the name of Anita Holt who has many different abstract sculptures and some of which are cubist.

We learned about the different forms of sculpture and the different glazes that can accompany pots when we paint them and that what we paint pots with is not limited to glazes. Today was overall a really good start to project week by establishing strong basics and beginnings for ceramics.

We also got to use and play with some clay. We learned how to wedge....

clay, as well as the basics of making a pinch pot or a coil pot. We used different types of stamps to design some slabs of clay and get a basic feel for working with clay.
