Test Flying Begins

What a great start to the week! After brushing off the rust, we are back at it and test flying begins tomorrow! We had a great day Monday with thermals up to 4,700 ft and climbs at 800 fmp. So much fun to play at CLOUD BASE! Excellent flying weather! Yesterday we had mostly broken lift with some beautiful clouds, and a nice end of the day tow up to 5,000 ft. What amazing clouds! Can't wait to fly a new WillsWing U2 145 tomorrow! I'll be examining the effect that a larger chord has on the glide ratio of the wing!

Project Hang Glide

So excited to be heading to warm and sunny Florida tomorrow! It’s going to be an awesome week of flying and fun! We are going to study hang glider design and flight performance specs. We will be comparing two types of wings, rigid and flex, and comparing the advantages and disadvantages of both! In addition, we will be studying how to best film this high altitude extreme sport and making a sick movie!
