Show day!

By the end of the week we saw equal participation from all actors. Lots of support and acceptance was present. The cast ran through the show two times. They later received notes and last minute changes. Many adjustments were made to blocking, music, scene changes and pronunciation. Actors are continuing to work after required hours, including Gus Kush practicing piano and vocals! The directors and cast are feeling very ready and proud of their one-week creation. We hope to see a big crowd and have a smooth run!

Until tonight-

"Out, scab!"

Today our group started out with some warmup games. We played an improv game called Park Bench, where we tried to scare away different people by using the personality of our characters in the play. We also practiced blocking and practiced reading lines. Today was the first time we ran through the whole play in order with our costumes on. We are excited for tomorrows' performance!

"Dieu vous garde, monsieur."

In our third day of Shakespeare in the ARC, we rehearsed the majority of Act 1 of Twelfth Night. In the morning, Emily taught Nicolo some of her bo staff skills—which were quite impressive. We practiced running through our lines and working on our tones of voice while reacting to other's lines. We worked on blocking and posture. We especially worked on developing our characters.

After approximately an hour of doing this, we visited the costume room in the attic of Lane. There were so many different items of clothing and props to select from. Ella helped Ashley find a Hawaiian shirt with a beer logo on the back of it, which was perfect for Ashley's role as Sir Toby Belch. Emily found a beautiful green dress which fit her role as the extravagant Lady Olivia perfectly.

We got takeout lunch from the local 104 Diner, compliments of Ms. Jennison, which we are all extremely grateful for. Finally, we spent the last two hours reading over our script. Tomorrow, we hope to continue working on our lines.

Until tomorrow,
Ashley and Dana

Some are born great, and some achieve greatness...

Today in Shakespeare in the Arc, it was a busy day. In the morning we started off with a few activities to warm up then went on a Dunkin Donuts trip. After getting back on campus, we headed back to the classroom to start watching the play we will be performing on Friday. We got through about half the play in the morning and then went on a well deserved lunch break for about 30 minutes. In the afternoon, we came back to the classroom and finished up watching the play. After that, we uncovered everybody's parts and started to learn our parts and read script. To finish off the day we went outside to read the first half of the script as a group and get some practice in. We look forward to finish reading our scripts tomorrow.

The show goes up Friday night at 8pm! Come to the ARC to see it.

Shakespeare in the ARC - Day 1

Hello from the ARC! Today we got to know each other, Ms. Jennison and the show we're putting on. We also read our audition sides, and I think I can speak for all of us when I say we're very excited to see the outcome tomorrow. We explored the characters and setting of the story, and worked on posters to put up around campus. We definitely made a lot of progress today, but the devil's in the details. We'll see how tomorrow goes!
