Issues with embryonic stem cells and animal testing

This morning we had a Skype interview with Dr. Green of the Ethics Department from Dartmouth College. He spoke to us about embryonic stem cell research and the ethics around it. Later in the day the group drove to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center to meet with researchers in the cancer center. There we met with Dr. Arti Gaur who spoke to us about her research using mice and finding a treatment for a brain tumor called Glioblastomas. We were able to check out her lab which was pretty cool. Then we met with Dr. Paula Therrien, who talked about the ethical issues surrounding animal testing and clinical trials. This got the group thinking about many discoveries in science technology and treatments that wouldn't be possible without animal testings.
