Whaling and its Aftermath: Day Two!

Day two and we have gotten much closer to our whale sightings. We were lucky to have the local Nantucket Whaling Museum specially open for us, giving us a detailed tour of their exhibits. It was very interesting to learn about how and why the whales were hunted. However, what was especially surprising was the sheer size of the whales. There was even a skeleton of a 21-year-old sperm whale!

Following up on all the information we learned we got a walking tour of the special places around downtown Nantucket. This included the Quaker meeting house, and one of the older houses on the island owned by a famous whaling captain.

The sunshine today made this the perfect day for walking around town, and you can't beat the view of the houses and crystal clear water. To finish the day we head out to a local restaurant with its own movie theater. At this very theater we watched the interesting Hail Caesar! The best part was arguably the whale spotting in it (or Channing Tatum tap dancing)!

Frankie: “It been a WHALE of a day!”
