Spiritual Diversity in India


Only 17 days until we leave for India and we are SO excited!!! Looking forward to immersing ourselves in the local culture and spiritual influences of the south-eastern costal city of Chennai.

Essential Question:

India has the unique honor of being the birthplace of four of the world’s major religions. Thus, an atmosphere of religious diversity and tolerance is prevalent by custom and law in India. On this project we will explore how a community and an individual practices tolerance of various religious and spiritual beliefs while fostering one’s own spiritual growth.


Competencies:
  1. Students will be able to describe how India represents different faiths in a public setting
  2. Students will be able to define religion and spirituality in their own words
  3. Students will understand the origins of India’s different religions
  4. Students will develop an understanding of what spirituality means to them personally
