Lifeguarding: Day 2

In the classroom today, we were introduced to First Aid and CPR!! We learned the protocols of how to assess and begin EAP's (emergency action plans) once we have victims out of the water.

The group practiced the Heimlich  maneuver for victims of various sizes:

After time spent in the classroom it, we were off to the pool. Today was a big pool day for the group. We learned both rear and front passive rescues, submerged victim rescues, two person removals with backboards, and spinal injury rescues. Teams worked to practice the timed skills we will be assessed on later in the week. The class also covered water front skills using rescue boards and water sweeps. It was a long day but we all learned a lot of techniques to respond to a variety of situations!!
