Final Day - Ceramics

Every student paired up to create a collage with clay from a previous collage we made as a group. They got very creative! Top left: Land, Top right: Earth, Bottom left: Mountains, Bottom right: Sea

Our final glazed pieces consisting of bowls, push plates and creative usage of bowls cut in half

STUDENT SELF REFLECTIONS:

I really enjoyed my time here, it was so much fun to test my limits and see what I could accomplish. My teachers were super supportive of my choices for designs and I really felt like I not only learned about ceramics but learned a bit about myself. Awesome Week! - Evan

I am really happy with the pieces I made. - Cathy

I had a great time with this project and I was happy with my pieces.  - Tim

This was fun and relatively entertaining, I got to make a pot with a face so overall it was enjoyable. -Sarah

I had a good time making ceramics pieces. I was surprised on how well they turned out. - Tarun

I enjoyed learning different techniques from another ceramics instructor. - Liv

I made a pot with duck feet so it was an okay time. - Lily

As I reached out to gently touch the wet, dripping clay, sulky mud started to adhere to the tip of my fingers. The bulk was reckless, uncontrollable and would not succumb to my command. Detaching from the spinning wheel, it was screeching, "I am not a pencil." However, the way I was tackling it would be applied to sketching a thumbnail on paper. "Go slowly, yet still apply enough force," Penny's words echoed in my ears. Suddenly, but not unexpectedly, my fingers sunk into the quicksand. There was a hole in my creation. An imperfection. Looking at the drying bits of clay on my hand, I felt a strong desire to learn. I wanted to know more. I wanted to craft something. - Vu
