We spent the morning learning how to make digital prints. We each went through the editing process of picking a picture we took the before and changing them to black and white. We also had some fun with flowers and portraiture
We next found a dark space in the locker rooms and learned about light painting. By changing our Shutter speed and moving light sources around we were able to create interesting marks and lines in images.
The spent the afternoon making cyanotypes. A form of printmaking using the UV of the sun. When we done with that we took the prints we made earlier that day and developed them in the dark room.
I learned if the don’t invert your digital photo during the editing process than the black and whites in the prints will be switched when it comes time for the developing process.
I liked the process of developing my prints. I thought it was really cool see the picture form when the paper got submerged in the bleach. And also the trial and error aspects too, see if you need more light or less time. And making those small changes and seeing the big difference they have on photo being developed.
