Our set up today in the new wellness center yoga studio
After we got oriented and introduced ourselves to each other, Ms. Tyson led our group in a wonderful yoga session. We took a break for tea and snacks. Then, we talked a bit about the practice of meditation and its benefits. Ms. Tyson led us in a short sitting meditation and then a guided meditation. Students left for lunch feeling relaxed from this practice.
Ink and Good Vibes
Suminagashi- an ancient paper marbling technique traced back to have originated in China over 2000 years ago, was practiced as a form of meditation and divination by Shinto monks in Japan. Ms. Pereira led us in this practice with sumi ink and soap- floating the ink on the surface tension of the water, and watching the designs change form according to the vibrations and movement in the room. Everyone had a chance to try it and pulled several of their own prints from the surface of their individual water baths. It was a lot of fun!
