Ireland - Last Day

We left Dublin early this morning and traveled to Northern Ireland. We went to see Giant's Causeway, which is an incredible piece of geography that is also mired in Irish folklore. I always wondered who Finn McCool was... now we know.

As I compose this blog, we are (sadly) enjoying our last dinner at a restaurant called Wagamammas in the city of Belfast. We had some time this afternoon to learn about the "Time of Troubles", when Catholics and Protestants fought for control of Northern Ireland. Although the peace agreement was signed 14 years ago, there are many signs around the city that signify that the wounds have not completely healed.

Ireland - Day Four

Today was spent immersing ourselves in the culture and history of Dublin. What a fascinating city! We learned about architecture and folklore, revolutions, heroes and villains.

Ireland - Day Three

We said goodbye to Killarney with plenty of fond memories. Today we headed off to Dublin and visited two fantastic examples of medieval architecture, Blarney Castle (where most of us kissed the famous Blarney Stone) and The Rock of Cashel. It was spectacular.

Ireland - Day One

After a long night and day of travel, we have arrived safely at our hotel in Killarney. We are pretty tired, but happy. We saw some really cool sights today, medieval castles, thatched-roof houses, and amazing countryside. Our tour director, Jane, is such an amazing source of information, as is our very capable driver Tony. Here are a few of the sights we have seen today...enjoy!

Ireland Group In Killarney

After a long night and day of travel, I am happy to say we have all arrived safely at our hotel in Killarney. Kids are in good spirits despite the lack of sleep. Tour director and bus driver are fantastic and showed us the town of Adair, in Killarney. We will have dinner in an hour and then an early bed time. Tomorrow we hit the Ring of Kerry.

Cheers,
Mr. D

Ireland

The Emerald Island is 4 days away, and my excitement is making it difficult to sleep. I have been checking the weather reports, and although we may get some wet weather, that is pretty typical for Ireland this time of year. There are many more days that are forecast to include some sunshine. Temperatures will be in the high 40's to mid 50's.
